Joelle Pierson, SLP-CCC

Joelle completed her undergraduate degree in speech-language disorders and sciences from Eastern Illinois University. She holds a master's degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.  Joelle has 20+ years of experience as a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

Joelle has experience working with children ages birth-18 years across settings: homes, daycares, inpatient/outpatient hospitals, clinics, schools, and private practice.  She has developed knowledge and therapy skills within a variety of areas including articulation, expressive and receptive language, social communication, auditory processing, and apraxia of speech.  Joelle has worked with children with typical delays and children with a variety of medical diagnoses.  She has worked within an Autism communications classroom, serving children with a diagnosis of Autism.

Joelle has worked diligently in order to bridge the gap between home and school-based therapies. Her goals are to help facilitate functional communication within the naturalistic environment, provide families with resources and tools to improve communication, and successfully collaborate with both families and therapists to provide the most beneficial team approach.

In Joelle’s free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters (ages 15 and 13); usually on a volleyball court or softball field. During the downtime between sporting events, you may find her relaxing on a beach or at the lake.
